BOOK REVIEW-2 : THE AFGHAN BY FREDERICK FORSYTH
Book Name: The Afghan
Author: Frederick Forsyth
This book is about an MI6 spy who infiltrates the depth of Al Qaeda to investigate about a terrorist attack codenamed Al-Isra. Mike Martin is a veteran of the Afghan War who during his tenure Afganistan learned the ways and the language of Pashtos. Mike is an imposter by the name Izamat Khan(who is a terrorist imprisoned in Guatemala prison) who infiltrates the Al Qaeda.
Forsyth genuinely portrays the lack of scientific education in the Pashto Hills turns the young minds prey to the religious fanaticism and in the end turning out to be aggressive killers. It also shows the corruption in the authorities heading and controlling these terrorist organizations and also their connection with the Arab World of Rich and Powerful.
Overall, this spy thriller has a real and humane feeling .
Forsyth does a good job by connecting the dots to give a dramatic end to the story.
If you like thrillers and specifically spy-thrillers and the complexity around it then this would definitely be a good read.
